im try not to be biased, as i am not a super -fan of Laura Kirkpatrick, neither am i the president of the hateclub of Nicole Fox.
The moment i saw Laura Kirkpatrick.. i thought to myself.. " damn! this girl is the best of the lot.. and has got memorable 'It' features. *lips, nose and cheekbones*
Laura
* photographs superbly well.
*best runway walk as she appeared very 'seasoned' in runways despite having no experience at all. (the judges said it)
*has dyslexia but requires less takes than Nicole (which i will go to her in the later part) in Covergirl cosmetics script. performed better than Nicole.
* a mix of sensuality and innocence.
she looks like a Grecian goddess in this photo.
Next up, Nicole Fox. Picture speaks for itself, but for additional information.. Jay Manuel commented that her voiced sounded like a snob living a pampered lifestyle inside her Covergirl advert (whiny paris-hilton like but amazingly Tyra said she loved nocole's voice). she struts the runway with this weird style of each sides of shoulders moving back and forth as she walks.. *and Tyra concluded is as a "signature" walk. pfft*
Yes, surely she had a few good pics. but what about the very unproportionate body, overtly long neck and looking malnourished. and what's up with those ears? im sorry, but if you are a model and a winner as well, arent you not supposed to have prominent flappy ears? i know models are supposed to look really skinny but not malnourished. High fashion is supposed to look fierce. not half-dead.
Basically, the judges has noted more strengths in laura than nicole as laura's southern appeal could transform into a mix of sensuality, sweetness and innocence while she struts the runway with subtle fierceness and sex appeal *the judges said it*.
while nicole appears less charismatic, albeit being able to strike a pose or two (duh.. u are one of the top 2 left, striking poses no longer serves as an advantage but a nesesity) despite a lack-lustre presense in real life and walking like a gargoyle in the runway. both girls are shorter than the average model height as season 13 (some time ago) was for aspiring models 5 ft 7 and under.
as predicted, miss tyra here had managed to always throw in more questions to the other judges on who is better, to make it sound more favourable to Nicole Fox. Having been watching antm for the past few seasons, the moment that i heard Nigel Barker (noted fashion photographer) complements and whistling on how sexy Laura looked in her Covergirl photoshoots. I knew it.. damn.. what a shame! with tyra banks as the chief judge, no way will she ever let laura win after such remarks are made. Hah! turns out i was right. spot on.
me as a faraway observer had long ago suspected that tyra has some insecurity issues going on, just by looking at the pattern of the antm winner. Somehow after season 4 or 5 the winners are always mediocre at best, and the ones with real model potentials somehow always got eliminated. none of the winners made it big, but yet a handful of the one's that were sec or third runner-ups were signed on to modelling agencies nonetheless and might hav more bookings than those picked out by tyra. (anyone who follows the show would know what im talking about). if even i could observe such issues *from a faraway land in front of a tv screen* no doubt people around Tyra Banks or people who works in the same industry would have noticed it even more clearer still. i know that the biological clock is ticking and being a former supermodel does has its issues, but there is no reasons to stoop that low or even feel intimidated by anyone younger that is trying to make it in the fashion industry, albeit secretly. Im sorry Tyra, i had always liked you, but sometimes your choices are just so darn obvious. never in a million years will she choose sexy newcomer.
the show could be kinda entertaining, but most of the contestant sucks. big time. and i do know what im talking about, and i know what i see, i may not be working in the modelling industry but real successful models does not, in anyway looks like Nicole Fox, or even close. Speaking of which, just so anyone who reads this knows, that i do not aspire to be a model of any sort, therefore im not making these critics as an ego-boost to myself) and i do believe that tyra, being in the modelling industry for so long knows what she sees, but yet the contradicting results. thus, imho, this whole antm show looks more like a joke to me. hence i stop watching it ever since. if anyone were to beg to differ, im sorry but i guess you just dunno much about fashion and looks and stuff. (not saying that i do, but it's darn obvious that you don't.. lol)
and so at the end of cycle 13 antm, Nicole was, of course chosen as the winner.
a picture says a thousand words. :)

Considering your blog on ANTM Cycle 13 was posted recently... you'd think you could at least do a bit of research and see what both girls are up to right now.
Nicole was signed twice to model for Heritage 1984 and was featured in major billboards. Wildfox Couture signed her as the lead girl for their Fall 2009 campaign. There were 2 other tall models in the campaign yet Nicole got the focus, including a solo billboard in Los Angeles.
She has recently done a shoot for Nicole Richie's fashion line Winter Kate Spring 2011 campaign as well as modelling her jewellery from her label "House of Harlow".
Nicole has also resigned her $100,000 contract with Covergirl and has a new spread coming out later this year. She is only the second ANTM winner to get that honour. So your apparent ridcule on her lacking personality seems to be off, much like your critique of her ANTM portfolio, which you seemed to not bother posting the many shots where she was picked Best of the Week. Hint: There were many. Nicole had the best Call-out order in ANTM history.
Nicole plans to go to Europe later this year and meet with agencies since she does have a more European look, with her more unusual high fashion features. She is arguably the most successful winner to come out of the show and she's only 19 years old.
Meanwhile, Laura has been out in New York doing a million test shots trying desperately to get into HIGH FASHION and failing miserably. She has hardly had any actual print work. She has since followed Nicole to Los Angeles and signed to a very small commercial agency in LA.
Personally, I thought Erin was a better Top 2 finalist than Laura. Erin, by the way, since I'm sure you have no clue what she is up to either, has been signed by Wilhelmina Models in New York and has just started building up her portfolio with beautiful shots. Have you seen Laura's portfolio? All-Antm.net <<< Check it out there.
Brittnay is also doing AMAZING. Got into Harpers Bazaar Mexico and is modeling in China right now.
well, i have to say.. it's all about the connections baby. sometimes in the media industry, sometimes it doesnt matter how darn good you are, u would still be struggling to get on top if the chances are limited.and it doesnt matter if u are below second best, sometimes with the right connections, u could become an over-night star.
as of now, we could never be too sure who will be more successful yet, could we? :) as the one with greater staying power in the future always wins.
you are right my dear, i didnt bother researching on Nicole further because, honestly, i didnt think she was good enough with a body shape like hers. and personally, the reason why i think laura was better was because of her features and her catwalk, like i've stated previously. apart from talent, luck + timing plays a big part in getting modelling gigs. yes, i saw Wildfox campaign add but clearly Rachel Ballinger and Daria Plyushco was prettier and more outstanding than her.
and the reason why i stated nicole isn't good enough to be high- fashion is because she doesnt have a symmetrical and proportionate body, which is crucial for the said industry. honestly, even laura lacks the strength for top model dues to her lack of height.
yes, you are right again, not only do i am clueless about wat is erin or brittney doing, i hav no idea how they look like. this shows how forgettable their models are. hence i do not think my 'ridicules' are that off.
speaking of AMAZING and HIGH-FASHION, think Agyness Deyn, Anouk Lepere, Emma Pei, Erin Wasson, Jessica Stam, Sasha, Karolina.. and the list goes on.
after all as supermodel Paulina Porizkova puts it "The one guarantee that you will never make it as a model is to go on that show." ;P
What Paulina said is complete rubbish. Tyra normally always picks the WRONG girl as the winner, excluding Nicole Fox of course. This is the first time the most talent girl actually won. Usually, someone with "personality" and a commercial look would win... case in point Laura. So you could imagine how shocked and relieved the fans were when Nicole Fox won. (BTW, Nicole was already offered a modelling contract from a MAJOR agency mid-way through the season but she had to turn it down because she won the show and had to sign with Wilhelmina. So unlike you, I guess there are professionals out there, unlike you, who see the potential Nicole.)
Many Top model contestants have gone on to make a lot of money modelling in major high fashion avenues. Such as Mollie-Sue who got dumped in Cycle 6 for not having a "personality" according to Tyra. Mollie went on to feature in Italian Vogue, and do countless high fashion designer campaigns, magazines, and runway shows. Same with Anya from Cycle 10 who has modelled ALL OVER THE WORLD and appeared in some of the most amazing fashion spreads. She didn't win either, the plus-size girl who had no career beyond the show ended up winning instead. Oh Tyra. -_- Then you have the Cycle 1 3rd place finisher Elyse who, almost 10 years on, is still modelling in major fashion spreads all over the world.
Then there is of course the issue of Alice Burdeau, winner of Cycle 3 of Australia's Next Top Model, who is now a multi-millionaire. After modelling for Gucci, Alexander McQueen, Fendi, and tons of other high fashion labels she is arguable the most successful top model to come out of these shows. She has since retired at the tender age of 21 after modelling for 3 years. She hit the top big time! She was signed to major agencies in no less than 4 continents.
It just makes your argument so weak when you know so very little of what you ridicule.
Oh an about the "connections"... you think THAT is why Nicole Fox has done so well and earned so much and Laura hasn't? Erin was signed by the same agency as Nicole. You do know Laura had the same opportunity and Wilhelmina decided to pass on her? Laura just doesn't scream model.
If Rachel Ballinger and Daria Plyushco were so much better... why did the photographer send them home early and continue a session with Nicole on her own? Why did Nicole get her own SOLO billboard? Wildfox Couture LOVED her look. Same with the other clients that have booked Nicole, and RE-BOOKED after working with her. You claim her personality is limp, then I do wonder why she gets on so well with the people she works with?
If you think all it takes to be a high fashion model is a symmetric body... you really need some education of the industry. There are many girls with very quirky physiques that have done well in that arena. When Nicole goes to Europe this year, she will be one of those girls too.
Nicole is a very humble sweet hard-working girl that deserves all the success that is coming her way.
dear kitty,
i do not have the heart nor the energy to continue this debate with you in this trivial matter. i can see that you are very passionate about backing her up, thus including your reasons 101 on how weak and ridiculous on what i've stated have been. the thing is, u keep missing the point. *i did point out that Tyra will always choose a girl that is not even near her standards, imho Nicole Fox included*. and u keep hustling your defenses on how great she is and how she deserved it bla bla bla.. are u her like mom? perhaps that explains it all.
u can hustle all you want, or even hold on to your little opinion till the end of the road. if u are that well-rounded on the insides scoops of the industry, you do know that antm is famed for producing lacklustre models, dont u? Nicole Fox has yet to prove herself and everyone knows that.
the fact that u could deem that Paulina speaks rubbish and that you know more than her speaks of how unnecessary it is for me to state anything more.
and why are we even talking about Aussie's next top model? i do not understand what you are tryin to prove.
one thing for sure : as much as you root for her and wants her to be the best of the best in the modelling industry. Nicole Fox will never share the same success as Paulina Porizkova,or Tyra *well, that was part of Tyra's plan wasn't it*. neither will she walks for Victoria Secret or Alexander Mcqueen for an instance. ;)
